Do you have a drain somewhere around your house that keeps getting blocked?
Are you sick of having to call out a plumber time and time again to clear it, only to find it blocks up again?
Do you wish that someone would just give you a simple answer as to what’s going on?
All this is very frustrating. And we can understand how you feel.
The answer to your problem is simple, even though it might appear that the cause could come from many sources.
Drains block up for many different reasons. And it all depends on which drain your are talking about.
In your kitchen for example, a blocked sink or even a blocked dishwasher (connected to the same drain) can often be caused by a build of grease and fat that gets washed down the sink from your dirty dishes. Oils and fats are liquid when they are warm but go solid and hard when they go cold. It doesn’t take much of this to block up your sink drain.
In your bathroom, the cause of your blocked sink, shower or bath, could all be linked. Often it’s a combination of soap and hair being washed down the shower that can cause blockages.
And as for your toilet getting blocked well that’s often because of too much toilet paper and not enough water. Lots of people think they are doing the right thing by using the “half-flush” to save water, but if you have just done “No. 2’s” then you should always use a full flush to make sure that the toilet paper and everything else is fully flushed away. And don’t ever use those so-called “flushable” wipes because they are just NOT flushable no matter what the pack or the TV ad says.
Now if any of these things are blocking up regularly you might be suffering from a more serious problem, but the solution is quite simple.
First, if you ever call a plumber to clear a blocked drain and they DON’T put a camera down the drain to see what’s actually going on down there, then they are only guessing. No one knows what is going on underground in your drainpipes, without taking a look for themselves. Otherwise it’s just dangerous guesswork.
Just because someone is a plumber doesn’t mean they have X-ray vision. They cannot see what is going on underground inside your drains without putting a camera down the drain. If they did, they would see exactly what is going on that is causing your drain to keep blocking up.
It could be that your drain has tree roots growing inside it. (This is one of the most common causes of long-term blockages in drains.) Or the drain could be partially collapsed, especially if it is old. The joints in the drains could have come apart letting dirt get into the drain. Or something large might have been washed into the drain and got stuck in there.
Whatever the problem, the solution is simple. Get your drains inspected by a plumber who ALWAYS uses an in-drain camera, like we use at The Drain Man. We’ll put the camera down the drain and SHOW you what is going on down there. So you will see what we see and you will know for sure that you are getting your problems fixed permanently.
Once we find the exact reason for the cause of repeated blockages, we clear it for good. And if your drain does have tree roots in it or the drain is partially collapsed or the joins in it are broken, we will offer to reline your drain. This puts a whole new lining inside your drain so tree roots and dirt can’t get in anymore and if the drain was collapses this pushes it back into its original round shape so that everything can flow through it easily again.
